For this project which was for Tim we had to create some kind of movie but instead of working forward i.e. genre of the movie, location and actors etc we worked backwards starting with the film title and posters then began evolving our ideas from there by thinking about what the title “TWISTED” meant to us as a group.

So after working on the posters we then went on to think about what the word twisted could actually mean. We all came together with our own idea’s where we spoke about twisted dreams, murder and psychotic states so this became our basis for a short horror film. We began looking in more depth at our favourite horror movies aswell as old horrors to get ideas of how we could shoot certains scenes and how to make an impact.

Afterwards we planned out how the movie would flow and thought about things such as locations, who would be in the movie and most importantly the scenes in terms of beginning middle and end. We originally thought about some sort of typographic intro but unfortunately none of us were that good at using flash so we left this out. Here is recent intro I have seen from the movie Vacancy which was very inspiring but also reminded me slightly of Alfred Hitchcock’s psycho

-Calvin, in one of Bill Watterson’s ” Calvin and Hobbes Comic strips.

Bill Watterson is an american cartoonist and author of the comic book strip Calvin and Hobbes. He began as a cartoonist from 1985 – 1995 at the end of 1995 he felt he had achieved all that he could possible do.

So i took influences from the actual comic book cover its self rather then taking too much from the quote . I took things such as the distinct outline of the characters aswell as the cartoon-like font.

Now moving onto the actual quote it’s self I tried to basically break it down starting with the first part “The purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas.” so i thought about something that I had done in college which was a silhouette of a woman but in order to come up with this i had to think of words to build up the image so the words “inflated my idea”. Secondly “To inhibit clarity” I looked at it and thought to myself and began remembering how much the silhouette of the woman became clearer the more I built up the image.

Graphic design working as a fashion designer at the moment for a fashion company

So once again we had to get into groups and come up with a set of the same questions for people who we knew working as the same profession as ourselves. I interviewed someone who conveniently is doing the same thing i’m doing which is studying graphic design but working in the fashion industry.

Unfortunately the photographers didn’t give us photo’s of a band instead we received photo’s of lights for some odd reason. So we tried getting in touch with the photographers to resolve the situation but they never replied so we took it upon ourselves to go out and organise a photoshoot with people who wanted specific photo’s done as an exclusive offer which became our event. But since it was so last minute I felt it maybe didn’t go as well as it could have done but i enjoyed the process of working with other graphic designers but not photographers as in the end they let me down. It has almost taught me not to really rely on others.

This was the project where we were all given the same poem then placed into a group but had to all agree on a section which we would later choose to illustrate.

It doesn’t really matter because at the moment I am employed but I think the location is very important.

The construction of new buildings.

This is sketch I done which incorporates the animal print and colour which can variate depending on the current collection.

Mens and Womens label the colours I used are to simple distinguish between the two

So now about the commercial i wanted to show the transformation between normal and funky so I done my subject looking drowsy with obvious lack of colour then her world brightens up once she’s eaten funky-o-s. I think to be honest I could have done better with the commercial it was hard to find a child who was comfortable enough in front of the camera and who could also be rather natural. I think if i had a chance to do it again it would be much better.
